One man champion and one woman champion. The scenario of this Saturday and of World championship in 2019 which takes place in Japan every 4 years.
European open weight kyokushin karate championship was very successful for Bulgarians. Valeri Dimitrov did what he knows best – he won 1st place. As usually happens 🙂 He added one more title to the long list he has. Lithuanians? Kestutis Radvila and Edgard Secinski won 3rd places what is a really great result! Congrats to Edgard Secinski who was awarded for the best technique as well 😉
Women? One more Bulgarian on the top of podium – Ivanka Deleva. However, as always, Lithuanian girls proved what a strong school and fighters we have back home. Inga Mikstaite was 2nd this time and Ruta Brazdzionyte after a break without competitions took 3rd place. This tournament was special for women because Top 8 will participate in World championship in Japan next year. We had a big team of Lithuanians and 4 out of 8 places were taken by our girls. So congrats to Inga Mikstaite, Ruta Brazdzionyte, Brigita Gustaityte and Erika Zeburtovic who can start preparation for next year 😉 Happy for you, girls!
After big competitions I usually say a good word to organizers as well. And most of the times it’s quite easy to find few or many positive ones. However, this time can’t think of any.. Sorry, organizers, but I have to ask – what happened?? We had great championships lately while this time I felt like 10-15 years back. This shouldn’t happen. Venue, organization, opening ceremony, food.. Doping control?? I hope all this was an accident or a joke that I didn’t understand and we will not see such things again 🙂
